Exodus 13:8 ESV
You shall tell your son on that day, It is because of what the Lord did for me when I came out of Egypt.
There will always be younger generations, either yet to be born or too immature, and who are unable to bear witness to our present encounters of God. But God desires that they be told what happened, so the memory of His deeds does not cease.
That’s what memorials are for, such as the Passover meal.
That’s why the Lord’s Supper is similarly practiced.
It teaches a new generation about what God did for our ancestors so that we know that He can deliver us in like manner, in our generation, in our situations.
He is after all, the same God, yesterday, today and forever.
