A Prophetic Ministry For Every Believer Part 3 – TWC Daily Devotional – Sunday 16 August 2015

As you grow in discerning and hearing what God is saying to you through your close walk and intimate relationship with Him, the next step is to ask Him for a word for someone you’re praying for, for your church, for your church members, for your family members or even for your nation. Start small but always do it with faith believing that God wants to speak to you and through you. For instance, when you are praying for a person, whether at the beginning of your prayer or midway through your prayer, you should pause and ask the Lord if He has a word for the person you’re praying for. Be quiet, don’t be anxious, and just wait for a moment. The first impression that comes to you whether it is a word, phrase, picture, Bible text, Bible story, Bible character or something else, you should just speak it even though the impression may be quite vague. And when you say it to the person, you could say something like this, “I’m not sure if I’m correct, but I seem to get this impression of a flower right next to you.” Quite often as I articulate the little bit I saw, I would get more words to say. This was exactly what happened the other day at the Voice of the Apostles Conference when I prayed for a brother after he had prayed for me. I went on and said, “…. and the flower is very fragrant, it is the fragrance of Christ and everywhere you go, this flower goers with you and the fragrance of Jesus is spread wherever you go. People who meet you will smell it and know how good God is.” A while later, he introduced me to his wife and said something to his wife about me and she said she would like to pray for me. As she was praying for me, the Holy Spirit impressed on my heart clearly that she is that flower! After she finished praying, I turned to Joe Martinez and told him just that! He was evidently moved and he received the word as a word for him and his wife. As we hear a little, we must speak a little by faith, even though we may speak without absolute certainty. Know this, your feeling of vagueness and speaking without absolute certainty does not unauthenticate or nullify what God intends for the person you’re praying for. Just speak what comes to you and very often you’ll find that the Holy Spirit will instruct you and give your more words. It’s just like Coke in a glass bottle that has been shaken. If you don’t open the cap, the Coke will remain trapped in the bottle but the moment you uncap the bottle, everything rushes out! The Holy Spirit is sovereignly at work in each of our lives, He is stirring things up and shaking us on the inside. And the moment we open our mouths and speak, everything comes rushing out! As you walk with God, exercise faith and also create a learning environment where you are. Tell fellow believers around you that you’re all going to learn about the prophetic, and it’s like having your own “prophetic school”. You may get it wrong sometimes, and that’s ok because you did not say “thus sayest the Lord”. Instead you’re saying, “I think the Lord is saying this or that, or I’m not sure but I get this impression ….”, etc. Let there be a learning culture to encourage everyone to learn and practice – and practice makes PERFECT. What is of utmost importance is that whatever you say must NEVER oppose the written Word of God. For instance, the Holy Spirit will never ask a person to be dishonest or do anything that compromises godly character and integrity. As you keep learning and practicing, you will become more and more sensitive and discerning and your ministry will increasingly become a greater blessing to people. Have a great day!

Today’s Bible Text: “1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy. 2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God. Indeed, no-one understands him; he utters mysteries with his spirit. 3 But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.” (1Cor.14:1-4)

Day 18

Leviticus 26:8 ESV
Five of you shall chase a hundred, and a hundred of you shall chase ten thousand, and your enemies shall fall before you by the sword.

What an awesome verse! When God is with us, just five soldiers can slay an enemy twenty times their size. And a hundred soldiers will defeat an enemy a hundred times larger.

All because God makes that difference.
Not arsenal.
Not skill.
God. Pure and simple!

Made a note to self …
Make sure you got God on your side … he’s greater than any MVP.
