Day 26

by Rev Joel Yong

Deuteronomy 10:2 ESV
And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets that you broke, and you shall put them in the ark.

Moses broke the tablets containing the Commandments when he saw the people engaging in idolatry.

There is no point on having the very written word of God, on the very stone He wrote upon – such a relic is of no use if the lives in the community pay no heed to His Word.

Moses wasn’t struck dead when he broke those tablets, thus showing that God permitted what Moses did.

The Word is nothing, unless it is lived out.

Do This And Your Church Won’t Grow Part 3 – TWC Daily Devotional – Wednesday 26 August 2015

See church as just something you do a couple of hours each week, spend most of your time and be spent doing things without actively cooperating and partnering with the Lord, and your church just won’t grow! One of the greatest deception of the enemy is to get us to think that our faith in God is something extremely private and should have no bearing on where we spend most of our time – such as our schools or workplaces. The moment we compartmentalise our faith and let it exist without allowing it to influence everything we do wherever we are, the church declines and loses her cutting edge – and the devil wins. The moment we spend most of our time seeking the things of the world instead of the things of God, we are defeated. The true follower of Christ is called to seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness and that means our preoccupation is with the things that matter in the Kingdom of heaven. We are called to bring a godly presence and influence into the places where we spend most of our time instead of being influenced by the world and her values. When we bring God into every situation whether at work or at play, when we look to God to see things through His eyes, we see our present situations differently, we see God’s divine perspective in everyday ordinary situations. Then, we can act as the Spirit leads and make an eternal impact in the lives of those around us. Jesus is not a pocket torchlight you pull out occasionally to give a little light to a few situations, He is the sun who illuminates your entire life and your entire day! Without Him we can do nothing of any real value. As you walk with God today, know that God has created you for good works – works that would glorify Him and extend His Kingdom. If what you do daily is not doing that, then please stop for a moment and think about where you’re headed. You might just need a new vocation, a new preoccupation or a new direction in life. You’ll never find true fulfillment and satisfaction until you find God’s bearing for your life. Let go and let Him navigate your course. Have a great day!

Today’s Bible Text: 31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’  32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. (My.6:31-33)
