Joel 2:25 ESV
I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you.
When the people turn and repent, God assures that He will restore them.
The ordering of the locusts here, is different from that of Joel 1. Rather, this time, He lists the matured locust first and recedes the developmental stages of the locusts , from swarming ( the first of which, is the matured winged locust) to hopper, to destroyer to cutter (the last of which is the newly born locust).
It is so, because it shows the gradual repopulation, growth in prosperity and restoration of infrastructure from the damage caused by the various foreign armies.
I mentioned this becasuse it is possible to be blind to God’s hand in our lives.
It is possible that God has started restoring your broken life, but it comes in stages and yet you focus not on what has already been rebuilt but instead on what is yet to be – and you get disappointed, thinking God has forgotten you or is ignoring you.
He isn’t and He hasn’t.
Look carefully, rebuilding is already happening.
Give thanks and look forwards to the future with hope. Not because of your abilities, but because of your God who is gracious.
