Pokémon GO

by Rev Sng Chong Hui

Last week something phenomenal happened in the game world. A record-breaking game became available on mobile devices and took the world by storm.

The new game is called Pokémon GO. It was developed by Nintendo whose stock soared nearly 25 percent — its biggest gain in more than 30 years.

Pokémon GO is a game with augmented reality. Using the mobile phone’s GPS and clock it takes you to a real-world environment where you find Pokémon to “catch ‘em all.”

This game is by far the most downloaded by people all over the world.

But my purpose is not to draw your attention to the good, bad and danger of the game. Rather I want to capture your imagination as to what would happen if the people of God played a similar game.

Imagine the people of God caught by a similar passion.

Imagine people driven by the desire to want go to their entire world not to find the visible fictitious characters but rather the invisible factual God.

Imagine the people of God wanting to lay hold of not the Pokémon in the Game but rather the Promises in the Word and “catch ‘em all!”

Imagine the people of God wanting to be trained at the GYM (God Your Mentor) so that they can better wrestle with all the powers and principalities in this world.

Imagine the people of God not contented to stay cloistered in the safe Christian environment of their home and church.

Imagine the people of God driven by the desire to go out to world, the malls, the schools, the camps, the parks and the market places to catch and make disciples.

Imagine yourself being captured by the unmistaken call of God – People Come-On Go!

Hear again that call:

“Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15).

People Come-On GO!
