Genesis 13:14-18 ESV
The Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him, Lift up your eyes and look from the place where you are, northward and southward and eastward and westward, for all the land that you see I will give to you and to your offspring forever. I will make your offspring as the dust of the earth, so that if one can count the dust of the earth, your offspring also can be counted. Arise, walk through the length and the breadth of the land, for I will give it to you. So Abram moved his tent and came and settled by the oaks of Mamre, which are at Hebron, and there he built an altar to the Lord.
Now I don’t think Abram managed to walk the entire length and breadth of the land before him. This probably was not the 1st Iron Man marathon in history.
But it drove home the point that God was making.
“Abram, the expanse before you – as wide as you can perceive with your sight … that is how limitless my storehouse of supply is. And yes I am giving it to you.”
It probably took Abram’s breath away.
“All this? For me?”
It’s said that when a thief steals an ATM card together with its PIN.
The first thing he does at the ATM, is to choose the BALANCE ENQUIRY option.
Even thieves know, that human storehouses are limited. They want to know how much they can withdraw before they have exhausted their supply.
Our Father desires to bless us.
In the same manner, He desires that we live out life to its fullest.
Not a watered-down version of life where we intoxicate ourselves with poor substitutes of immorality and addiction to idolatrous pursuits.
Jesus said, “I have come that they may have life – life in ABUNDANCE.”
Or as some versions translate it “… life in FULL.”
