Deuteronomy 10:12-13 ESV
And now, Israel, what does the Lord your God require of you, but to fear the Lord your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to keep the commandments and statutes of the Lord, which I am commanding you today for your good?
Why does God desire for us to obey and serve Him?
To feed His ego? No. If you are God- you receive awe inspired praise from all of creation. Scriptures teach that rocks cry out and trees dance in praise. Even if mankind doesn’t praise you- it’s alright- there is still plenty of adoration and reverence going around.
No. It is for our OWN good that God desires for us to be in a relationship with Him and to serve Him.
He is good for us. We aren’t a necessity for Him but He is a necessity for us.
Having God in our life is like having water in our bodies. You may not think it’s essential or find the taste not as enticing as a soda- but when you are low on water- the symptoms will show and so will your subsequent collapse.
