The earth is polluted by those who live on it because they’ve disobeyed the LORD’s teachings, violated his laws, and rejected the everlasting promise. That is why a curse devours the earth, and its people are punished for their guilt. That is why those who live on the earth are burned up, and only a few people are left.
Isaiah explains why God allows destruction to happen. It is because of sin.
It leads to mankind violating his laws and thus judgment comes upon the land.
It does say though that a few are left. God does not destroy mankind completely but leaves a remnant so that we have a 2nd chance at recovering and learning from our lessons.
He shows grace as His intention is never to satisfy His wrath but to draw us back to the correct ways.
