Day 228

by Rev Joel Yong

Daniel 9:1-3
Xerxes’ son Darius, who was a Mede by birth, was made ruler of the kingdom of Babylon. In the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, learned from the Scriptures the number of years that Jerusalem would remain in ruins. The LORD had told the prophet Jeremiah that Jerusalem would remain in ruins for 70 years. So I turned to the Lord God and looked to him for help. I prayed, pleaded, and fasted in sackcloth and ashes.

Daniel, Ezekiel and Jeremiah were contemporaries.

And it is recorded here that they reference each other’s writings. Ezekiel mentions Daniel in his prophecies and Jeremiah is mentioned here by Daniel.

God is the same God yesterday, today and tomorrow.
We can trust that He is still speaking in our present as He was in the time of these 3 biblical heroes. And like them, we can reference the work of contemporary teachers of Scripture as we seek to sharpen ourselves and strengthen our own walk in Christ.
We know Daniel did and so did the other 2 prophets, in this case.
