Jealousy & Pride

Day 231

by Rev Joel Yong

Hosea 3:1-3
And the Lord said to me, Go again, love a woman who is loved by another man and is an adulteress, even as the Lord loves the children of Israel, though they turn to other gods and love cakes of raisins. So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a homer and a lethech of barley. And I said to her, You must dwell as mine for many days. You shall not play the whore, or belong to another man; so will I also be to you.

The amazing example of Hosea is this- he was told by God to go love his wife who had left him for her many lovers, again.

By the time, Hosea found her- she had been sold into slavery – no doubt by one of the men she was with.

Prophets were oft asked by God to enact extreme actions in order to get the people’s attention and unveil to them what God was going to do to them.

They had to do this because the people were hard hearted and often blind and deaf to regular preaching.

What about us? Are we do blind and deaf that this is what it takes for God to get our attention too??

Because Hosea’s wife pursued illicit affairs even though it would mean her downfall.
It is only by grace that she is redeemed and saved from a horrible fate.
Sounds like humankind lost in sin? You bet it does.
