Day 254

by Rev Joel Yong

Mark 15:1
And as soon as it was morning, the chief priests held a consultation with the elders and scribes and the whole Council. And they bound Jesus and led him away and delivered him over to Pilate.

They arrested Jesus at night and tried Him at night.
Why’d they try Him at night? What was the rush to indict Him?

Well, the whole trial was a farce and it was completely illegal according to Jewish law.

Each criminal was supposed to get:

  1. A public trial
  2. A right of defense
  3. Convicted via the testimony of 2 or 3 witnesses.

Jesus’ trial satisfied none of these criteria!

Perhaps you feel that today you are being unjustly treated and that lies are being spread about you. People do not seek clarification from you and make up their minds based on hearsay.

I realize that when men have nothing that can be used against them, it means that they have done nothing wrong.
It is at such a situation, whereby their enemies have nothing to say about them except lies.

So rejoice, my friend, when people use lies against you. For it means you have been found to have given them no justifiable reason to indict you!
