After the devil had finished tempting Jesus in every possible way, the devil left him until another time.
Jesus’ encounter of the devil, during His 40 days in the wilderness, was not the only time of testing.
Scripture records that “the devil left him until another time”.
Friends, the sooner we understand this, the more vigilant we will be – Satan never gives up, he always comes back to try again.
So we might beat temptation once, but Satan tries again. His ultimate motive is to make us cease dependence upon God and to go our own way.
This is why we need to build daily habits of reliance upon God, into our lives. Prayer, meditating upon the Scriptures, refining our perspectives with other followers of Jesus..
The day we cease to do so, we start to lean on habits that build up a sense of self-reliance, arrogance in thinking we are self-made men and an overall susceptibility to the devil’s temptation when he returns for a 2nd try.
