We, however, are citizens of heaven. We look forward to the Lord Jesus Christ coming from heaven as our Savior. Through his power to bring everything under his authority, he will change our humble bodies and make them like his glorified body.
We have our nationalities on earth and play our parts as citizens of these nations and people under the leadership of our government.
We are also citizens of heaven.
We have a belonging higher than that of our earthly bonds.
We have a purpose higher than that of our earthly vocations.
We have a destiny higher than that of our earthly goals of survival and accrual of resources alone.
Then see everything you experience in life through that lens.
When we do so, we realize that certain things cease to have a hold over us. What others think of us matter less. What we believed necessary for acquiring, is not really a need but a want.
All this happens when we realize who we truly are.
Citizens of heaven.
We also realize who we serve.
The Most High God.
