Don’t forget to show hospitality to believers you don’t know. By doing this some believers have shown hospitality to angels without being aware of it.
This passage recounts the story of Abraham hosting whom he thought were weary travelers, but who really were angels in disguise.
In the same manner, Lot offered shelter to travelers who were also angels in disguise.
We are reminded that even today, the mercy and hospitality we show to strangers – could also be to heavenly messengers in disguise. We may never know!
Remember that Abraham was brought a message of good news- the coming birth of hia long awaited son Isaac. And Lot was shown a path of escape from the impending doom about to befall Sodom and Gomorrah.
What if they had chased the travelers away and not given a hoot what would happen to these strangers?
Your mercies shown to strangers – may not always lead to such dramatic outcomes. But rest assured – God watches – and it still leads to eternal consequences.
Don’t forget to do good things for others and to share what you have with them. These are the kinds of sacrifices that please God.
